The Kobaloi are some of the most notable creatures in the world. They are incredible mages, but their frail (and sometimes miniature) bodies keep them out of melee combat. Not much is known about the Kobalo, apart from them being one of the first creatures to ever inhabit the world, before and after the re-forging. They strive for knowledge, especially in magic, but tend to fall into their work too much, or push too hard for something they want, often getting blind sided by unseen factors. They are as numerous as they are small, varying in size from only an inch or two tall to as much as three feet, depending on their culture and heritage. Their inquisitive nature often gets them in trouble, and but they can always talk their way out of these situations.
After the persecution of Kobaloi by Chronos, they banded together as a society like no other had, and were able to defend themselves from Chronos’ troops of various races that served him, until Demeter came to their rescue. Since then, Kobaloi have a fondness of Demeter, several of them becoming priests for her, even having festivals in her honor on an annual basis. In recent years, the Kobaloi have found themselves aligned with the Gaian, due to the Gaian persecution. Where Kobaloi find their strength in magic and have and combat, Gaian are powerful Gladiators. Kobaloi will often find a Gaian to stick with, hiding on their person during combat, and using their near-endless supply of essence to keep the Gaian fighting. The two races make a splendid combination, and have a beautiful partnership, each relying on the other’s strengths to see them through. Many wonder at what point the Kobaloi will reveal the secrets of their past, and even more wonder if those secrets are being protected by the Gaian. Either way, it seems as though they have no intention on spilling the lore of their history, and likely never will.
Advantages
Kobaloi are frail creatures, and are skilled in hiding and stealth. They are also trained in magic from birth. You may choose an additional rank of non-divine magic at character creation, and may choose to exchange both minor BGAs to learn a single non-magical skill without a teacher, and without having to pay the required currency.
Disadvantages
Being so small, it is difficult for you to use weapons, though weapons for people your size can be crafted to do realistic amounts of damage. You start at -1+Base Damage for all weapons you wield, and all melee combat takes both of your education BGAs to learn per skill. Additionally, you may be dealt a killing blow without the use of a weapon
Roleplay Suggestions:
Kobaloi are friendly, playful creatures who don't like confrontation, especially not physical altercations. They are somewhat skiddish around aggressive creatures that have not proven themselves friendly. Strangely, due to years of persecution from Cronos, The Kobaloi and Gaian have developed a close friendship between races. Once a Kobaloi has found a Gaian he or she gets along with, they will often develop a tight bond and partnership, playing off of their strengths and weaknesses. Kobaloi are often curious and mischievous, but do not always intentionally cause trouble. They absorb information quickly, but forget it just as fast, another reason why they prefer to pass the details to a Gaian, who will remember they much better.
Makeup and costuming requirements:
Kobaloi are very prone to wander and find their way outside, heavily preferring outdoor environments. They are typically wearing earth-tones, subdued colors, and covered in dirt, grass, weeds, flowers, and berries. They tend to prefer to have more skin covered than not, and will usually avoid wearing armor that is not made of leather or other natural material, especially magical or enchanted armor. Kobaloi must always have some sort of foliage as part of their costuming, and must phys-rep patches of dirt on all exposed skin. Kobaloi may also choose to be able to fly for strictly roleplay purposes, but must represent their wings, as this does not mean they have the 'flight' ability, nor does it grant any in-play abilities or advantages.
