A few years into the creation of New Olympus, the mortal inhabitants of the world found
themselves with questions about who would work the fields, build the monuments and temples that once
stood tall, and when the gods and goddesses would provide these workers. The inhabitants went to the
Olympians and pleaded with them to create a servant race for them, but the Olympians turned them down.
Discouraged, the mortals turned to their mages and after much study and practice, were able to turn a large
pile of rocks into a functioning automaton. It followed simple commands, had incredible strength, and
boundless energy. These constructs were created by the dozen, and were assigned to do menial tasks. Soon,
New Olympus had solved its problem.
It wasn’t long before sloth took over the world. Rarely did anyone have to leave their homes but it
wasn’t until one of these constructs of stone was instructed to tidy a temple to Zeus did the Olympians
decide that it had gone too far. Demeter, in particular, frowned upon the occupants of
New Olympus for falsifying life, and brought sentience to one construct made of marble.
As the construct formed a consciousness and began to protest the unpaid labor, the
Olympians had a laugh at the mortals who were unable to penetrate the stone skin of the
living construct who angrily began to ravage town. Ares saw this powerful, nearly
unbreakable man as a powerful tool. Ares and Demeter struck an agreement, and
Demeter brought life to all of the constructs, naming them ‘The Carved’.
Basics
Advantages
The Carved of Stone are strong, durable people, capable of doing physically difficult tasks much more
easily than other races. The Carved gain +1 Strength, and will always have +2 to armor threshold.
Additionally, Carved can call ‘Immune’ to the ‘pain’ tagline.
Disadvantages
With all that bulk, you’re bound to see them! The Carved may not at any point take any Rogue
Skills. Additionally, Carved do not have a metabolism and cannot bleed out. If you sink below 1 HP, you
immediately go into unconsciousness. After 5 minutes of unconsciousness, you will immediately go to
‘Spirited’. You must also choose a part of your body (i.e. Hand, foot, leg, arm, chest, or head) that contains
your ‘soul’. During unconsciousness, your body pieces may be stolen. If the part containing your ‘soul’ is
stolen, you cannot be revived until your body is back together.
