Rome has always had an unstable relationship with Greece, and when the war of the Titans laid wasted to Greece and the surrounding areas, Rome was not spared. Though they were not specifically targeted, there were large parts of the country that were left devastated and scarred by the attacks. The leadership of Rome realizes that this is not the fault of the people of Greece, but has not been patient with seeking reparations for the damages done to the cities, homes, and people.
Since New Olympus was created in the place of Greece, Rome has been even more antagonistic, refusing trade, threatening war, and discouraging other countries from alliances with New Olympus. The Olympians have turned their back on Rome for serving under what they consider false gods, and will not speak of them.
Strangely, Pompeii was left nearly untouched during the attacks, despite other nearby areas being left desolate and demolished.
